What to do on Bonaire?

A small selection of the various activities......
Bonaire is the island of sun, sea and its beautiful underwater world. Plenty to do.

How about surfing on the almost always windy Sorobon?
The water is always fantastically warm and the wind is almost always blowing. Also, the water is only 1 meter deep, so if you fall you will be back on the board in no time.

You can also go kitesurfing along the west coast where the wind is even stronger if possible.

Or a visit to the salt pier, where salt is still mined and shipped.

Thereby you cannot miss the slave huts. In memory of what happened in those days, the cottages are still there and you will get an impression of the housing that was provided to the slaves in those days!

Bonaire is pre-eminently a beautiful diving island. There are many diving spots where you can see the wonders of the underwater world. But snorkeling is just as impressive. Just put on the goggles and you will immediately see the wonders of the underwater world. Beautiful turtle watching at the impressive dive spot "1000 steps"!

Or visit the donkey sanctuary which is located in the middle of the island.

You can get around by car but you can also rent a scooter. We advise you to book in advance and do not forget ................. On Bonaire a helmet is mandatory on the scooter!

A visit to Bonaire's Washington Slagbaai National Park is also worthwhile. You pay an entrance fee there (contribution to Stinapa) and you must enter the park with a four-wheel drive car. Otherwise, you will not be admitted. The park is often not accessible after heavy rains because the roads there do not allow it. Please keep that in mind!

There are donkeys and goats running loose on the island.

Or a visit to "little Bonaire." A small uninhabited island opposite Kralendijk. There are regular boats which you can use for a fee. On "small Bonaire" nothing is available so a picnic basket is definitely needed. But you can do fantastic snorkeling or just enjoy nature. In addition, a good sunburn is a must!

Currency

The currency on Bonaire is the US dollar.

There are plenty of ATMs where you can simply withdraw them. However, there is a commission charged for the pin transaction. Furthermore, the official language on Bonaire is Papiamentu and Dutch. But English is also understood and spoken.
